My daughter, who is six-years-old, and I are standing in the checkout out line at a popular local store. As we are standing there she begins with, “Mom, I know you will probably say no but can I pleeeezzzzz have one of these?” I can’t see what it is so I ask her about the item she is ‘begging’ to have. She goes on to tell me it is these “gummy bears” and that all the kids at school have them in their lunch-boxes. So I start to explain to her that I just can’t convince myself buy a food item for her when I can’t even pronounce the ingredients that are on the label – it certainly can’t possibly be good for your body. So she looks at the label and adorably says, “Like red 40?” “Well, I can read 'that',” I answer, “but that still isn’t something I would want in your body!”
