I decided to take my six-year-old to a bowling fundraiser for retarded citizens and I thought it best to explain to him what mentally retarded means. This way he would not point or ask questions when we arrived. I told him their brains are formed differently; sometimes they look different and act differently. After telling him this there was this long silence. Suddenly, my six-year-old said, "Mom, are you mentally retarded?" I said, “No!” He quickly replied, "Well, why are you bowling then?" Sometimes life is hard to explain.
